Well, what’s the Christmas season if it’s not feasting and it’s not fellowship?
So many times throughout Jesus’ ministry he gathered in this way, to feast together and to fellowship together. As I read through each one of the scriptures today, I am reminded that our God is one of celebration; that is apart of his nature and character, something that is innate and unchanging when it comes to the Lord. We have this gift of feasting on the word of God and on the WORD of God.
A few months ago, a small group of us decided to write a song about ants (in reality, it was mostly one and we just got to enjoy the process). I was reminded of the first verse which he wrote:
“we can only carry crumbs right now back to our half baked revelation
here comes a day when we’ll be feasting in our father house
i only make these tiny trails i think they’re marvels of creation
meanwhile you carve out something i could never dream up in my whole life”
Our whole story leads up to the wedding feast of the Lamb and the blessing to be apart of it, which never could have been reconciled if it weren’t for Jesus first coming in this fragile, humble position as human to humanity. He made the way. There’s countless moments of God bringing people together in joy and feasting, and sorry to ruin the surprise, this won’t be stopping anytime soon! It will continue on for all of eternity!
I can’t speak for everyone, but I’m sure some may relate when I say this year was not easy. My prayer for you is that in this time of advent and during this Christmas season, you would cast aside any worries knowing that He is a God who cares for you, and that you would find joyful ways to gather together in celebration. Selah.
